I was commissioned to design digital assets for the FIFA 21 Midnight Ramadan League in collaboration with EA Sports and the league’s founder. The objective was to create a visual identity that combined Islamic heritage with modern football aesthetics, while celebrating grassroots football and increasing visibility for British Asian representation in the sport.
Process
I researched Islamic geometric patterns to ensure cultural authenticity, then translated these motifs into a contemporary design system suitable for a global sports audience. Working closely with EA Sports’ marketing team, I designed kits, banners, and digital assets using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Designs were iterated through stakeholder feedback to ensure clarity, consistency, and broadcast-ready execution.
Result
The campaign achieved strong engagement within the UK Asian community and received national exposure through broadcasts on BBC and Channel 4. The project contributed to wider conversations around diversity in football and supported the England FA’s increased focus on Asian representation within national teams.
